Where Can We Find Happiness?

In 2020, I’m sure a lot of people have found happiness hard to come by. Even if we don’t realize it, even if we don’t think we aren’t happy, I think there’s a part of all of us that realizes we aren’t as happy as we would like to be.

With the pandemic and the quarantines and the staggering loss of life and of jobs, there’s a shadow hanging over a lot of our happiness. With the riots and racial injustices that continue to plague our country, there’s a shadow hanging over our happiness. With the political division and hatred, there’s a shadow hanging over our happiness.

And with Christmas just a couple of weeks away and many of us having to choose between staying home without our loved ones or risking their safety to see them, there’s definitely a shadow hanging over our happiness.

In 2020, we’ve probably all spent a lot of time trying to hide that shadow, to cover it up with something. For me, it’s been technology; I’ve tried about a dozen computers and tablets this year in my “search for my next computer”, but really, I think I was just trying to cover up that shadow lingering over all of us, trying to ignore it by focusing on reviewing gadgets and trying new things.
