We Make a Good Team: A Shang-Chi (and the Legend of the Ten Rings) Review
It feels like it’s been a long, long time since I’ve seen a proper Marvel movie in theaters.
It hasn’t, really; in fact, the last few months have been quite rich in MCU properties. There have been a plethora of Disney+ shows (each of which I’ve loved), and I just saw Black Widow in theaters a couple of months ago (which I loved as well).
Despite all of that, it still feels like it’s been a long, long time since Far From Home. Maybe that’s because all of the Disney+ shows while taking bold steps to progress the post-Endgame MCU, have been on television and haven’t given me the same theater-going experience. Maybe it’s because while Black Widow was great, it was a product of the past, a movie set prior to Thanos’ war against the Avengers and didn’t really further the MCU narrative too much (it also didn’t help that the movie was delayed a year while feeling like it should have come out a few years ago).
All that to say, when I sat down in theaters to watch Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, it felt like I was finally about to see the first big step forward for the Marvel Cinematic Universe in ages.
Long story short: I was not disappointed. At all.
