The Once Amazing Spider-Man

Spider-Man is no longer in the MCU. But is that a bad thing?

It’s been a hell of a week. And I’ve already written about this. But I’ve had some time to ruminate on the prospects of a Spider-Man-less MCU, and an MCU-less Spider-Man.

Frankly, it still sucks. But it may not be as bad as we thought. I mean, yeah, the MCU and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man seem interwoven, and the sudden absence of one from the other has the potential to be jarring. But now I want to go over a few reasons why this might not be the end of the world.

Spider-Man’s Main MCU Arc is done.

I’d been thinking about this since the news broke. As much as I’d love for Spider-Man and Captain Marvel to have a movie together one day, Spider-Man’s main story within the confines of the MCU is- more or less- finished.

Sure, there’s room for him to have a new storyline, and it felt at the end of Far From Home that it was setting him up to be the next Tony Stark or possibly even the next leader of the Avengers (at least, until J. Jonah Jameson threw a monkey wrench at the Night Monkey). But arguably his most…
