Spider-Man is No Longer an Avenger, and I’m Pissed

Just when things are getting good, Sony pulls, well, a Sony.

Let’s track this from the beginning, shall we? Back in 2015, the impossible happened: Sony made a deal with Marvel Studios to bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

And there was much rejoicing. After not one, but two failed franchise attempts at the wallcrawler, Sony finally realized that the best people to bring Spider-Man to cinematic life were the same people who made Iron Man and Captain America household names.

Skip ahead to 2019. After all, we know what happened next. Civil War gave us just a glimpse of what could be with Tom Holland in the suit. Homecoming proved a breath of fresh air. We cried as Spider-Man died in Tony Stark’s arms. We cried again when he swung back into action, only to see Tony Stark die minutes later. And we cheered when he used his Peter-tingle to defeat Mysterio. It’s been a rollercoaster.
