My Top TV Shows From 2022 (Updated)

“You have not seen what I have seen.” Or maybe you have.

I’ve seen my share of excellent television this year; in fact, I think 2022 has been one of the greatest years for television in a long, long time.

But in 2022, I’ve also found myself disinterested in writing full reviews for each and every thing that I see; instead of taking the time to write about it, I decided that I’d rather just sit back and enjoy it for myself.

That said, I do want to give credit where credit is due, and the following are the absolute best TV shows that I saw this year. To meet the requirements for this list, these TV shows will need to have released new episodes in 2022; this can mean that the show premiered this year or that a new season or special episode came out this year. I also may include shows that started at the end of December 2021 but concluded the season in 2022, but I won’t be including any older TV shows that I might have discovered in 2022. I’m also only including shows for which I have caught up on every available episode; though I’ve enjoyed shows like Amazon’s The Peripheral, I won’t be including it here because I haven’t finished the current season.

SPOILER warning for all of the TV shows I’m talking about here.

Peacemaker

I’ve been a fan of James Gunn ever since Guardians of the Galaxy came out. When he crossed over to DC to direct The Suicide Squad, I was ecstatic, and he knocked it out of the park. But honestly, I think Peacemaker might be the best thing he’s ever made.

The show is irreverent, hilarious, and holds absolutely nothing back. John Cena is fantastic in the role of Peacemaker and is surrounded by a great cast, and the show continuously offers zany surprise after surprise. It is one of my favorite superhero shows ever, and James Gunn once more found a way to take a character I’ve never heard of and make that character amazing. No wonder Warner Bros. chose him to head up the future of the DCEU.

Also, that opening credits dance number is bizarrely wonderful.
