I've been struggling with deciding to buy the M2 MacBook Air ever since it was announced, and the fact that we've now had almost a month of waiting for it and still don't have an exact release date in July (I'm hoping July 1st, but just as likely it could be July 31st) means I've just been agonizing over it constantly. I have the M1 MacBook Air and I love it to death; I've had it since day once and it is still super fast for most of my needs (I've occasionally gotten a spinning wheel when I have two heavy apps like Photoshop and Pixelmator open and working at the same time or when I've got several browser tabs open on websites that are trying to use up all of my memory), but even with the battery health down to 94%, it lasts all day and does everything I ask of it without much hesitation. And that's an experience I've personally only ever had on the M1 Mac. The main reason I'm considering the M2 is for the teensy bit of performance headroom (maybe I won't get the beach ball quite as often when I forget to close Photoshop before moving to Pixelmator) and for that beautiful new design. If I get it, I'm going to keep the M1 around as a backup device (maybe I'll plug it into a monitor instead of getting a Mac mini), cause I always like having a backup in case something happens (and I neglected to get Apple Care on my M1). But since I've had so much time to contemplate the M2 without any new information or hands-on articles to further sell me on it, I've also begun to look at the M1 Pro 14" MacBook Pro and even the 12.9" iPad Pro, the latter which I think will provide more unique usability as a companion to my M1 rather than the M2 just being slightly better. Alas, I'll probably be going back and forth on this until the M2 can finally be in my hands and I can decide for myself if I love it or not.
