Have We Already Seen Spider-Man’s Multiverse in the MCU?
A Theory
So, SPOILERS, but we are getting the Spider-Verse on the big screen. Ok, I know we’ve already gotten the Spider-Verse featured in the aptly named Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which was an excellent, excellent film.
But now we’re getting the Spider-Verse- or at least some version of a multiverse- in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is slap-bang in the middle of it.
Granted, this isn’t necessarily “new” news; we’ve know about the equally aptly-named Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness for a while now. And even Spider-Man: Far From Home featured the concept of a “multiverse”; that turned out to be a bold-faced lie concocted by Quinten Beck to give his “Mysterio” persona a wild backstory befitting of being compared to the likes of Thor or Captain Marvel, but it was mentioned nonetheless, and at a time when the animated Spider-Verse flick was still on our minds. But that, at least, we seemed to put to bed as we discovered Beck’s misdirection and true origin.
