So Apple thinks the iPad can replace my Chromebook or my Windows PC. That’s a tall order by any means. And the fact that Apple has felt this way for years is a bad, long-running joke. I mean Apple started advertising this “feature” in earnest back with iOS 11.

But now, with iOS 13- and the newly named iPad OS- has Apple finally hit that magic balance between tablet and PC?

Apple revolutionized the computer industry, that’s for sure. I mean, there’s nothing quite like an iPad. Sure, there are other tablets out there, but you don’t see them on a daily basis like you do an iPad. Samsung’s tablets are low-key (I mean, do you even know which model is the latest one?). Microsoft tries so hard with the Surface (and Surface Go), but Windows 10 still isn’t optomized for touchscreen life. And Google just quit making tablets altogether. Apple may feel like they have dominance with the iPhone, but really, the iPad is where it’s at.

But while the iPad is unparalleled when it comes to the tablet market, it’s never been a viable replacement for a laptop. Whether your laptop preferences are with a PC, a Chromebook, or even the Macbook, there have always been some pretty sizable walls dividing…
