Battle Royale (with Cheese): The 12.9 inch iPad Pro Vs. the 11 inch iPad Pro

How much Pro should you go?

--

So, you’ve decided that your standard, cheap (relatively speaking) iPad is’t up to snuff, but you don’t want to go in for a laptop in the 21st century?

Good, we’re on the same page, then. Laptops are so humdrum and boring in my opinion. If they are Apple-made, they can’t detach or flip around and they don’t have touchscreens, and if they are anything else, they usually only work better as either a laptop or a tablet, but never both.

On the other side of it, the iPad is freeing and versatile, but it still has it’s limits- especially if you’ve chosen to save some cash and buy the cheapest iPad on the market. So… where do we go from here?

We go Pro, of course. The iPad Pro (especially combined with the Magic Keyboard) isn’t cheap, but in 2020 it is successfully a suitable laptop replacement. But I’m not here to talk about that, am I? You, like me, have already decided that you need an iPad Pro. But which iPad Pro should you get? The smaller 11 inch or the larger 12.9? That, my dear reader, is the right question.

Fight!

Price

If you are looking at the iPad Pro, you are definitely looking at spending “laptop” money. Most decent-to-good laptops will run in the $800–$1000 range, and the iPad Pro is no exception.

The 12.9 inch iPad Pro starts at $999 (128gb, no cellular), the same price as the base model MacBook Air, and can be configured all the way up to a staggering $1,649 (1tb, with cellular), which puts it in the price range of the mid-tier 13 inch MacBook Pro. That’s not even including the peripherals such as the Apple Pencil 2 ($129), a smart folio cover ($99), or one of Apple’s keyboard options ($199 for the Smart Keyboard, and $349 for the Magic Keyboard), the latter which I personally think is a necessity if you are planning on using the iPad as a laptop replacement.

If you opt for the 11 inch iPad Pro, not only will you be saving space in your bag, but you’ll be saving cash…
