Chrome OS on a tablet is something that I’ve been interested in for a long, long time. Ever since ASUS introduced me to a touchscreen version of Chrome OS back with their original Chromebook Flip, I’ve been enamored with the idea of the operating system on a touch device.

Granted, I’ve primarily only used iPads for my tablet needs, and on occasion Windows tablets like the Surface, but there’s just something about Chrome OS that makes me want to use it in this form factor. Maybe it’s that it runs Android apps and has a full desktop experience, something that Apple still hasn’t achieved with their iPads despite advertising them as computer replacements. Maybe it’s that I feel safe browsing the internet on Chromebooks, which are largely virus-free. Heck, maybe it is simply that they are usually cheaper than iPads and Surfaces and run very well on limited specs.

It was Lenovo’s Chromebook Duet that really got me interested in the tablet form factor for Chrome OS; when that came out last year, I thought it had nearly everything. It was small and portable, came with the keyboard and kickstand in the box, had pen support, and was only $300. It wouldn’t replace my iPad, but…
