Apple Should Make a New iPod
Ok, hear me out.
Lately, I’ve been reading a lot. And while I still prefer real books, I’ve actually been doing most of my reading on an e-reader.
Now, I’ve got an iPhone and an iPad, both of which can display ebooks from a number of apps, but my e-Reader of choice has been a Kindle Paperwhite; I like that it has weeks-long battery life, an e-ink screen that is easier on my eyes, and — most importantly — that it is distraction-free. All it is good for is reading books.
And honestly… I miss having gadgets that only had one main function for me. Granted, I live on my iPhone and rely on it daily for everything from my phone to my camera to my music player to my note-taker to… well, you get the idea. It is my everything device. Until, of course, the battery dies — at which point it instantly becomes my nothing device until I get to an outlet.
My iPhone 12 Pro Max has excellent battery life and I’ve rarely run its battery down completely before the end of my day, but there’s still something appealing to me about having a device that is separate and does just one job for me and does it well. That’s why I love my Kindle and why I’ve also recently gotten into using a dedicated camera for my photography (you can read more about that here).
And that got me thinking about the iPod.
